About
As a member of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, Rob had the good fortune of receiving college counseling from Keith Berman who was himself a former admissions officer at Yale University. Meeting with Keith, Rob rejoiced as Keith encouraged him to discuss his passion for the intricacies of continental philosophy, quantum physics, and consciousness. Keith pushed Rob to detail every image and thought that went through his head as he became consumed by these concepts. Once finished with brainstorming, Keith guided Rob through reducing redundancies, prepositions, and passive voice as Rob sculpted his writing, scrutinizing diction and employing active voice. By the end of the application process, Rob felt that he had learned more about argumentative and narrative writing in a handful of sessions with Keith than he had ever learned anywhere else, collectively.
After graduating from Middlebury college with an interdisciplinary major in neuroscience and Buddhist philosophy, Rob committed full-time to his education business, Fathom Academics, which he had started at age 15. After years of tutoring students in college-level math, writing, physics, chemistry, and music theory, Rob decided to offer college counseling services in the style of Keith Berman. Rob’s first student wrote a poetic, captivating essay on helping people heal through her passion of surfing and was accepted to UCLA with a nomination for an honors program and scholarship offering her a parking spot and early course registration. After Olivia, the rest was history! Rob has enjoyed meeting astounding students and families over the course of four replete application cycles and is proud to boast an outcome of 100% satisfaction.
